Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of poppler installed on the remote host is prior to 0.26.5-43.27. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1852 advisory.

- Uncontrolled Recursion in pdfinfo, and pdftops in poppler 0.89.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via crafted input. (CVE-2020-23804)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update poppler' to update your system.
