Debian DLA-3609-1 : prometheus-alertmanager - LTS security update

medium Nessus Plugin ID 182760

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3609 advisory.

- Alertmanager handles alerts sent by client applications such as the Prometheus server. An attacker with the permission to perform POST requests on the /api/v1/alerts endpoint could be able to execute arbitrary JavaScript code on the users of Prometheus Alertmanager. This issue has been fixed in Alertmanager version 0.2.51. (CVE-2023-40577)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the prometheus-alertmanager packages.

For Debian 10 buster, this problem has been fixed in version 0.15.3+ds-3+deb10u1.
