Golang 1.20.x < 1.20.9, 1.21.x < 1.21.2 RCE

high Nessus Plugin ID 183031

Synopsis

An application installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

Line directives ('//line') can be used to bypass the restrictions on '//go:cgo_' directives, allowing blocked linker and compiler flags to be passed during compilation. This can result in unexpected execution of arbitrary code when running 'go build'. The line directive requires the absolute path of the file in which the directive lives, which makes exploiting this issue significantly more complex.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Golang Go version 1.20.9, 1.21.2, or later.
