Amazon Linux 2 : sudo (ALAS-2023-2301)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 183465

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of sudo installed on the remote host is prior to 1.8.23-10. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2301 advisory.

- Sudo before 1.9.13 does not escape control characters in log messages. (CVE-2023-28486)

- Sudo before 1.9.13 does not escape control characters in sudoreplay output. (CVE-2023-28487)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update sudo' to update your system.
