Synopsis
The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.Description
The version of cups installed on the remote host is prior to 1.4.2-67.25. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1857 advisory.- Due to failure in validating the length provided by an attacker-crafted PPD PostScript document, CUPS and libppd are susceptible to a heap-based buffer overflow and possibly code execution. This issue has been fixed in CUPS version 2.4.7, released in September of 2023. (CVE-2023-4504)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
