F5 Networks BIG-IP : Appliance mode authenticated F5 BIG-IP Guided Configuration third-party lodash and jQuery vulnerabilities (K12492858)

high Nessus Plugin ID 184223

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 15.1.8 / 16.1.3.2 / 17.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the K12492858 advisory.

- Lodash versions prior to 4.17.21 are vulnerable to Command Injection via the template function.
(CVE-2021-23337)

- Lodash versions prior to 4.17.21 are vulnerable to Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) via the toNumber, trim and trimEnd functions. (CVE-2020-28500)

- Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in jQuery UI before 1.12.0 might allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the closeText parameter of the dialog function. (CVE-2016-7103)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K12492858.
