Amazon Linux AMI : python27 (ALAS-2023-1880)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 184393

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of python27 installed on the remote host is prior to 2.7.18-2.149. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1880 advisory.

An XML External Entity (XXE) issue was discovered in Python through 3.9.1. The plistlib module no longer accepts entity declarations in XML plist files to avoid XML vulnerabilities. (CVE-2022-48565)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update python27' to update your system.
