Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for dnsmasq.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2023:7046 advisory.

- dnsmasq: default maximum EDNS.0 UDP packet size was set to 4096 but should be 1232 (CVE-2023-28450)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL dnsmasq package based on the guidance in RHSA-2023:7046.
