Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2023 host is missing a security update.

Description

It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2023-2023-436 advisory.

- Sequence of processor instructions leads to unexpected behavior for some Intel(R) Processors may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege and/or information disclosure and/or denial of service via local access. (CVE-2023-23583)

- Improper access control in some 3rd Generation Intel(R) Xeon(R) Scalable processors may allow a privileged user to potentially enable information disclosure via local access. (CVE-2023-23908)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'dnf update microcode_ctl --releasever 2023.2.20231113' to update your system.
