.NET Core SDK Denial of Service (CVE-2023-36038)

high Nessus Plugin ID 185959

Synopsis

The remote Windows host is affected by a Microsoft .NET Core SDK denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of Microsoft .NET Core SDK installed on the remote host is 8.0.x prior to 8.0.100. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability in ASP.NET IIS where a remote unauthenticated user can issue specially crafted requests to a .NET application which may result in denial of service.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update .NET Core SDK and remove vulnerable packages.
