Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 / 12 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5563 advisory.

- Sequence of processor instructions leads to unexpected behavior for some Intel(R) Processors may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege and/or information disclosure and/or denial of service via local access. (CVE-2023-23583)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the intel-microcode packages.

For the stable distribution (bookworm), this problem has been fixed in version 3.20231114.1~deb12u1.
