Description

The remote host is affected by the vulnerability described in GLSA-202401-14 (RedCloth: ReDoS Vulnerability)

 - A Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) issue was discovered in the sanitize_html function of redcloth gem v4.0.0. This vulnerability allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via supplying a crafted payload. (CVE-2023-31606)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

All RedCloth users should upgrade to the latest version:

 # emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose >=dev-ruby/redcloth-4.3.2-r5
