Synopsis

The remote AIX host is missing a security patch.

Description

The version of AIX installed on the remote host is prior to APAR IJ48663. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the IJ48663 advisory.

- IBM AIX 7.2, 7.3, and VIOS 3.1 could allow a non-privileged local user to exploit a vulnerability in the TCP/IP kernel extension to cause a denial of service. IBM X-Force ID: 267973. (CVE-2023-45175)

- IBM AIX 7.2, 7.3, and VIOS 3.1 could allow a non-privileged local user to exploit a vulnerability in the NFS kernel extension to cause a denial of service. IBM X-Force ID: 267971. (CVE-2023-45173)

- IBM AIX 7.2, 7.3, and VIOS 3.1 could allow a non-privileged local user to exploit a vulnerability in the pmsvcs kernel extension to cause a denial of service. IBM X-Force ID: 267967. (CVE-2023-45169)

- IBM AIX 7.2, 7.3, and VIOS 3.1 could allow a non-privileged local user to exploit a vulnerability in the kernel to cause a denial of service. IBM X-Force ID: 267969. (CVE-2023-45171)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Please apply the appropriate interim fix per APAR IJ48663.
