CBL Mariner 2.0 Security Update: python-tensorboard / reaper (CVE-2023-26159)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 189281

Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of python-tensorboard / reaper installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2023-26159 advisory.

- Versions of the package follow-redirects before 1.15.4 are vulnerable to Improper Input Validation due to the improper handling of URLs by the url.parse() function. When new URL() throws an error, it can be manipulated to misinterpret the hostname. An attacker could exploit this weakness to redirect traffic to a malicious site, potentially leading to information disclosure, phishing attacks, or other security breaches. (CVE-2023-26159)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
