Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 23.10 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-6620-1 advisory.

 It was discovered that the GNU C Library incorrectly handled the syslog() function call. A local attacker could use this issue to execute arbitrary code and possibly escalate privileges.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
