2024-03-13: CVE-2023-52463 was added to this advisory.
A flaw has been found in Xen. An unprivileged guest can cause Denial of Service (DoS) of the host by sending network packets to the backend, causing the backend to crash. (CVE-2023-46838)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
uio: Fix use-after-free in uio_open
core-1 core-2------------------------------------------------------- uio_unregister_device uio_openidev = idr_find()device_unregister(&idev->dev)put_device(&idev- >dev)uio_device_releaseget_device(&idev->dev)kfree(idev)uio_free_minor(minor)uio_releaseput_device(&idev- >dev)kfree(idev)-------------------------------------------------------
In the core-1 uio_unregister_device(), the device_unregister will kfreeidev when the idev->dev kobject ref is 1. But after core-1device_unregister, put_device and before doing kfree, the core-2 mayget_device.
Then:1. After core-1 kfree idev, the core-2 will do use-after-free for idev.2. When core-2 do uio_release and put_device, the idev will be doublefreed.
To address this issue, we can get idev atomic & inc idev reference withminor_lock. (CVE-2023-52439)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
gfs2: Fix kernel NULL pointer dereference in gfs2_rgrp_dump
Syzkaller has reported a NULL pointer dereference when accessingrgd->rd_rgl in gfs2_rgrp_dump(). This can happen when creatingrgd->rd_gl fails in read_rindex_entry(). Add a NULL pointer check ingfs2_rgrp_dump() to prevent that. (CVE-2023-52448)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: fix check for attempt to corrupt spilled pointer (CVE-2023-52462)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: efivarfs: force RO when remounting if SetVariable is not supported If SetVariable at runtime is not supported by the firmware we never assign a callback for that function. At the same time mount the efivarfs as RO so no one can call that. However, we never check the permission flags when someone remounts the filesystem as RW. As a result this leads to a crash (CVE-2023-52463)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
EDAC/thunderx: Fix possible out-of-bounds string access
Enabling -Wstringop-overflow globally exposes a warning for a common bugin the usage of strncat():
drivers/edac/thunderx_edac.c: In function 'thunderx_ocx_com_threaded_isr':drivers/edac/thunderx_edac.c:1136:17: error: 'strncat' specified bound 1024 equals destination size [-Werror=stringop-overflow=]1136 | strncat(msg, other, OCX_MESSAGE_SIZE);| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...1145 | strncat(msg, other, OCX_MESSAGE_SIZE);...1150 | strncat(msg, other, OCX_MESSAGE_SIZE);
...
Apparently the author of this driver expected strncat() to behave theway that strlcat() does, which uses the size of the destination bufferas its third argument rather than the length of the source buffer.
Theresult is that there is no check on the size of the allocated buffer.
Change it to strlcat().
[ bp: Trim compiler output, fixup commit message. ] (CVE-2023-52464)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mfd: syscon: Fix null pointer dereference in of_syscon_register()
kasprintf() returns a pointer to dynamically allocated memorywhich can be NULL upon failure.
(CVE-2023-52467)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drivers/amd/pm: fix a use-after-free in kv_parse_power_table
When ps allocated by kzalloc equals to NULL, kv_parse_power_tablefrees adev->pm.dpm.ps that allocated before. However, after the controlflow goes through the following call chains:
kv_parse_power_table|-> kv_dpm_init|-> kv_dpm_sw_init|-> kv_dpm_fini
The adev->pm.dpm.ps is used in the for loop of kv_dpm_fini after itsfirst free in kv_parse_power_table and causes a use-after-free bug. (CVE-2023-52469)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/radeon: check the alloc_workqueue return value in radeon_crtc_init()
check the alloc_workqueue return value in radeon_crtc_init()to avoid null-ptr-deref. (CVE-2023-52470)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crypto: scomp - fix req->dst buffer overflow (CVE-2023-52612)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
powerpc/imc-pmu: Add a null pointer check in update_events_in_group() (CVE-2023-52675)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/pm: fix a double-free in si_dpm_init (CVE-2023-52691)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
calipso: fix memory leak in netlbl_calipso_add_pass() (CVE-2023-52698)
An out-of-bounds access vulnerability involving netfilter was reported and fixed as: f1082dd31fe4 (netfilter: nf_tables: Reject tables of unsupported family); While creating a new netfilter table, lack of a safeguard against invalid nf_tables family (pf) values within `nf_tables_newtable` function enables an attacker to achieve out-of-bounds access. (CVE-2023-6040)
A Null pointer dereference problem was found in ida_free in lib/idr.c in the Linux Kernel. This issue may allow an attacker using this library to cause a denial of service problem due to a missing check at a function return. (CVE-2023-6915)
An out-of-bounds memory read flaw was found in receive_encrypted_standard in fs/smb/client/smb2ops.c in the SMB Client sub-component in the Linux Kernel. This issue occurs due to integer underflow on the memcpy length, leading to a denial of service. (CVE-2024-0565)
netfilter: nf_tables: fix pointer math issue in nft_byteorder_eval() (CVE-2024-0607)
An out-of-bounds memory write flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Transport Layer Security functionality in how a user calls a function splice with a ktls socket as the destination. This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system. (CVE-2024-0646)
In rds_recv_track_latency in net/rds/af_rds.c in the Linux kernel through 6.7.1, there is an off-by-one error for an RDS_MSG_RX_DGRAM_TRACE_MAX comparison, resulting in out-of-bounds access. (CVE-2024-23849)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix stack corruption When tc filters are first added to a net device, the corresponding local port gets bound to an ACL group in the device. (CVE-2024-26586)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: arm64: vgic-its: Avoid potential UAF in LPI translation cache (CVE-2024-26598)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ip6_tunnel: fix NEXTHDR_FRAGMENT handling in ip6_tnl_parse_tlv_enc_lim() (CVE-2024-26633)
Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.
Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Run 'yum update kernel' to update your system.
