Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-23-301 advisory.

- An improper certificate validation vulnerability in Fortinet FortiOS 7.0.0 - 7.0.13, 7.2.0 - 7.2.6, 7.4.0
- 7.4.1 and 6.4 all versions allows a remote and unauthenticated attacker to perform a Man-in-the-Middle attack on the FortiLink communication channel between the FortiOS device and FortiSwitch. (CVE-2023-47537)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Fortigate version 6.4.999999 / 7.0.16 / 7.2.7 / 7.4.2 or later.
