Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLES15 / openSUSE 15 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2024:0512-1 advisory.

- Alertmanager handles alerts sent by client applications such as the Prometheus server. An attacker with the permission to perform POST requests on the /api/v1/alerts endpoint could be able to execute arbitrary JavaScript code on the users of Prometheus Alertmanager. This issue has been fixed in Alertmanager version 0.2.51. (CVE-2023-40577)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected golang-github-prometheus-alertmanager package.
