CentOS 9 : libnbd-1.12.6-1.el9

medium Nessus Plugin ID 191208

Synopsis

The remote CentOS host is missing a security update for libnbd.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the libnbd-1.12.6-1.el9 build changelog.

- A flaw was found in the copying tool `nbdcopy` of libnbd. When performing multi-threaded copies using asynchronous nbd calls, nbdcopy was blindly treating the completion of an asynchronous command as successful, rather than checking the *error parameter. This could result in the silent creation of a corrupted destination image. (CVE-2022-0485)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the CentOS 9 Stream libnbd package.
