Synopsis

The remote CentOS host is missing a security update for bsdcat.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the libarchive-3.5.3-2.el9 build changelog.

 - Libarchive v3.6.0 was discovered to contain an out-of-bounds read via the component zipx_lzma_alone_init.
 (CVE-2022-26280)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the CentOS 9 Stream bsdcat package.
