Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3755 advisory.

- A flaw was found in tar. This issue occurs when extended attributes are processed in PAX archives, and could allow an attacker to cause an application crash, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2023-39804)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the tar packages.
