National Instruments LabVIEW < 2024 Q1 Patch 1 Multiple Vulnerabilities

high Nessus Plugin ID 192110

Synopsis

An application installed on the remote Windows host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW installed on the remote Windows host is version 2015 prior to 2024 Q1 Patch 1. It is therefore affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- An out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check in LabVIEW may result in remote code execution. Successful exploitation requires an attacker to provide a user with a specially crafted VI. (CVE-2024-23608)

- An improper error handling vulnerability in LabVIEW may result in remote code execution. Successful exploitation requires an attacker to provide a user with a specially crafted VI. (CVE-2024-23609)
- An out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check in LabVIEW may result in remote code execution. Successful exploitation requires an attacker to provide a user with a specially crafted VI. (CVE-2024-23610)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to NI LabVIEW version 2024 Q1 Patch 1 or later
