Synopsis

The Adobe Media Encoder instance installed on the remote host is affected by an arbitrary code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of Adobe Media Encoder installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 23.6.5, 24.3.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the APSB24-23 advisory.

- Media Encoder versions 24.2.1, 23.6.4 and earlier are affected by a Stack-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.
Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe Media Encoder version 23.6.5, 24.3.0 or later.
