Description

The remote host is affected by the vulnerability described in GLSA-202405-19 (xar: Unsafe Extraction)

 - This issue was addressed with improved checks. This issue is fixed in macOS Monterey 12.0.1. Unpacking a maliciously crafted archive may allow an attacker to write arbitrary files. (CVE-2021-30833)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

All xar users should upgrade to the latest version:
