Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2023 host is missing a security update.

Description

It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2023-2024-609 advisory.

- An issue was discovered in git where a client can convince upload-pack running on a server to allocate arbitrary amounts of memory, resulting in a possible denial of service. (ALAS2023-2024-609)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'dnf update git --releasever 2023.4.20240429' to update your system.
