Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FortiWeb installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-22-164 advisory.

- A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability [CWE-121] in FortiWeb version 7.0.1 and earlier, 6.4 all versions, version 6.3.19 and earlier may allow a privileged attacker to execute arbitrary code or commands via specifically crafted CLI `execute backup-local rename` and `execute backup-local show` operations.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Please upgrade to FortiWeb version 6.3.20/7.0.2 or later.
