Synopsis

The remote CentOS host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the CESA-2024:3022 advisory.

 - A vulnerability was found in libXpm due to a boundary condition within the XpmCreateXpmImageFromBuffer() function. This flaw allows a local attacker to trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read the contents of memory on the system. (CVE-2023-43788)

 - A vulnerability was found in libXpm where a vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition, a local user can trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system. (CVE-2023-43789)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected motif, motif-devel and / or motif-static packages.
