Qlik Sense Enterprise Privilage Escalation (CVE-2024-36077)

high Nessus Plugin ID 198142

Synopsis

A data analytics server installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a privilage escalation vulnerability.

Description

The version of Qlik Sense Enterprise installed on the remote Windows host is prior to May 2022 prior to Patch 18, August 2022 prior to Patch 17, November 2022 prior to Patch 14, February 2023 prior to Patch 14, May 2023 prior to Patch 16, August 2023 prior to Patch 14, November 2023 prior to patch 9, or February 2024 prior to patch 4. It is, therefore, affected by a privilage escalation vulnerability. Due to improper input validation, a remote attacker with existing privileges is able to elevate those privilages to the internal system role, which in turns allows them to execute commands on the server.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Qlik Sense Enterprise in accordance with the vendor advisory.
