Synopsis
The remote host is missing a security update.Description
The version of Veritas NetBackup installed on the remote host is 9.1.0.1, 10.0, 10.0.0.1, 10.1, 10.1.1, 10.2, 10.2.0.1, 10.3, or 10.3.0.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the VTS24-004 advisory.- A vulnerability was discovered in the Alta Recovery Vault feature of Veritas NetBackup before 10.4. By design, only the cloud administrator should be able to disable the retention lock of Governance mode images. This vulnerability allowed a NetBackup administrator to modify the expiration of backups under Governance mode (which could cause premature deletion). (CVE-2024-34404)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade to NetBackup version 10.4 or later, or apply the appropriate hotfix.See Also
