Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for python-idna.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2024:3846 advisory.

The hsakmt packages include a thunk library for AMD's Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) Linux kernel driver (amdkfd).

Security Fix(es):

* python-idna: potential DoS via resource consumption via specially crafted inputs to idna.encode() (CVE-2024-3651)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL python-idna package based on the guidance in RHSA-2024:3846.
