Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a XSS vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is affected by a XSS vulnerability as referenced in the 7158662 advisory.

 - IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5 and 9.0 is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. This vulnerability allows a privileged user to embed arbitrary JavaScript code in the Web UI thus altering the intended functionality potentially leading to credentials disclosure within a trusted session. IBM X-Force ID:
 292640. (CVE-2024-35153)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.26, 9.0.5.21 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH61546.
