CBL Mariner 2.0 Security Update: libnbd (CVE-2023-5215)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 201617

Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of libnbd installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2023-5215 advisory.

- A flaw was found in libnbd. A server can reply with a block size larger than 2^63 (the NBD spec states the size is a 64-bit unsigned value). This issue could lead to an application crash or other unintended behavior for NBD clients that doesn't treat the return value of the nbd_get_size() function correctly.
(CVE-2023-5215)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
