critical Nessus Plugin ID 201735

Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of procmail installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2014-3618 advisory.

- Heap-based buffer overflow in formisc.c in formail in procmail 3.22 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted email header, related to unbalanced quotes. (CVE-2014-3618)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
