Synopsis

The remote CentOS host is missing a security update for cockpit.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the cockpit-320-1.el9 build changelog.

- A flaw was found in the cockpit package. This flaw allows an authenticated user to kill any process when enabling the pam_env's user_readenv option, which leads to a denial of service (DoS) attack.
(CVE-2024-6126)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the CentOS 9 Stream cockpit package.
