Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability as referenced in the 7159825 advisory.

- IBM WebSphere Application Server could allow a remote authenticated attacker, who has authorized access to the administrative console, to execute arbitrary code. Using specially crafted input, the attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system. (CVE-2024-35154)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.26, 9.0.5.21 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH61489.
