Synopsis

The Adobe InDesign instance installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Adobe InDesign installed on the remote macOS host is prior to 18.5.3, 19.4.0. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the APSB24-48 advisory.

- InDesign Desktop versions ID18.5.2, ID19.3 and earlier are affected by a Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.

(CVE-2024-39392)

- InDesign Desktop versions ID19.3, ID18.5.2 and earlier are affected by a Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.
Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.
(CVE-2024-20781, CVE-2024-20783, CVE-2024-20785)

- InDesign Desktop versions ID19.3, ID18.5.2 and earlier are affected by an out-of-bounds write vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.

(CVE-2024-20782)

- InDesign Desktop versions ID18.5.2, ID19.3 and earlier are affected by a NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability that could lead to an application denial-of-service (DoS). An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to crash the application, resulting in a denial of service condition. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2024-41836)

- InDesign Desktop versions ID18.5.2, ID19.3 and earlier are affected by an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that could lead to disclosure of sensitive memory. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass mitigations such as ASLR. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2024-39396)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
