Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of harfbuzz installed on the remote host is prior to 1.7.5-2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2024-2587 advisory.

hb-ot-layout-gsubgpos.hh in HarfBuzz through 6.0.0 allows attackers to trigger O(n^2) growth via consecutive marks during the process of looking back for base glyphs when attaching marks.
