Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of kernel installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2021-3847 advisory.

 - An unauthorized access to the execution of the setuid file with capabilities flaw in the Linux kernel OverlayFS subsystem was found in the way user copying a capable file from a nosuid mount into another mount. A local user could use this flaw to escalate their privileges on the system. (CVE-2021-3847)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
