Synopsis

The remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability

Description

The versions of MySQL Server installed on the remote host are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the July 2024 CPU advisory.

- Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: InnoDB). Supported versions that are affected are 8.0.38, 8.4.1 and 9.0.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the appropriate patch according to the July 2024 Oracle Critical Patch Update advisory.
