medium Nessus Plugin ID 205092

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2023 host is missing a security update.

Description

It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2023-2024-690 advisory.

tqdm is an open source progress bar for Python and CLI. Any optional non-boolean CLI arguments (e.g.
`--delim`, `--buf-size`, `--manpath`) are passed through python's `eval`, allowing arbitrary code execution. This issue is only locally exploitable and had been addressed in release version 4.66.3. All users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability. (CVE-2024-34062)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'dnf update python-tqdm --releasever 2023.5.20240805' to update your system.
