Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of kernel installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2024-39485 advisory.

 - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: v4l: async: Properly re- initialise notifier entry in unregister The notifier_entry of a notifier is not re-initialised after unregistering the notifier. This leads to dangling pointers being left there so use list_del_init() to return the notifier_entry an empty list. (CVE-2024-39485)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
