Amazon Linux 2 : vte291 (ALAS-2024-2610)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 205713

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of vte291 installed on the remote host is prior to 0.52.2-2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2024-2610 advisory.

GNOME VTE before 0.76.3 allows an attacker to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a window resize escape sequence, a related issue to CVE-2000-0476. (CVE-2024-37535)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update vte291' to update your system.
