Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of hdf5 installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2024-32617 advisory.

 - HDF5 Library through 1.14.3 contains a heap-based buffer over-read caused by the unsafe use of strdup in H5MM_xstrdup in H5MM.c (called from H5G__ent_to_link in H5Glink.c). (CVE-2024-32617)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
