Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of shim installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2023-40551 advisory.

 - A flaw was found in the MZ binary format in Shim. An out-of-bounds read May occur, leading to a crash or possible exposure of sensitive data during the system's boot phase. (CVE-2023-40551)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
