Synopsis

The remote host is missing a macOS update that fixes multiple vulnerabilities

Description

The remote host is running a version of macOS / Mac OS X that is 13.x prior to 13.7. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- A race condition was addressed with improved locking. This issue is fixed in macOS Ventura 13.7, iOS 17.7 and iPadOS 17.7, visionOS 2, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, macOS Sonoma 14.7, macOS Sequoia 15. Unpacking a maliciously crafted archive may allow an attacker to write arbitrary files. (CVE-2024-27876)

- A logic issue was addressed with improved restrictions. This issue is fixed in macOS Sonoma 14.4. An unprivileged app may be able to log keystrokes in other apps including those using secure input mode.

- A privacy issue was addressed with improved private data redaction for log entries. This issue is fixed in macOS Ventura 13.7, iOS 17.7 and iPadOS 17.7, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, macOS Sonoma 14.7, macOS Sequoia 15.
An app may be able to access information about a user's contacts. (CVE-2024-40791)

- This issue was addressed through improved state management. This issue is fixed in macOS Ventura 13.7, macOS Sonoma 14.7, macOS Sequoia 15. Visiting a malicious website may lead to user interface spoofing.

- A downgrade issue was addressed with additional code-signing restrictions. This issue is fixed in macOS Sonoma 14.6. An app may be able to bypass Privacy preferences. (CVE-2024-40814)
