Synopsis

The Adobe InDesign instance installed on the remote host is affected by an arbitrary code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of Adobe InDesign installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 18.5.4, 19.5.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the APSB24-80 advisory.

- InDesign Desktop versions 19.4, 18.5.3 and earlier are affected by an Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by uploading a malicious file which, when executed, could run arbitrary code in the context of the server. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction. (CVE-2024-45137)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe InDesign version 18.5.4, 19.5.0 or later.
