Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox ESR installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 128.3.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2024-51 advisory.

 - An attacker was able to achieve code execution in the content process by exploiting a use-after-free in Animation timelines. We have had reports of this vulnerability being exploited in the wild.
 (CVE-2024-9680)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox ESR version 128.3.1 or later.
