Security Update for Microsoft .NET Core SDK (October 2024)

high Nessus Plugin ID 208754

Synopsis

The remote Windows host is affected by a Microsoft .NET Core SDK vulnerability.

Description

The version of .NET Core SDK installed on the remote host is 6.x prior to 6.0.35 or 8.x prior to 8.0.10. It is, therefore, affected by denial of service vulnerability as referenced in the October 2024 advisory:

- .NET, .NET Framework, and Visual Studio Denial of Service Vulnerability (CVE-2024-43483, CVE-2024-43484)

- .NET and Visual Studio Denial of Service Vulnerability (CVE-2024-43485)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update .NET Core, remove vulnerable packages and refer to the vendor advisory.
