Synopsis

An application running on a remote web server host is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The version of Splunk installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SVD-2024-1005 advisory.

 - In Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.2.3 and 9.1.6, and Splunk Secure Gateway versions on Splunk Cloud Platform versions below 3.4.259, 3.6.17, and 3.7.0, a low-privileged user that does not hold the admin or power Splunk roles can see App Key Value Store (KV Store) deployment configuration and public/private keys in the Splunk Secure Gateway App. (CVE-2024-45735)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Splunk Enterprise to versions 9.3.0, 9.2.3, 9.1.6 or higher.Splunk is actively monitoring Splunk Cloud Platform instances and upgrading Splunk Secure Gateway.
