high Nessus Plugin ID 209378

Synopsis

The Adobe InCopy instance installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Adobe InCopy installed on the remote host is prior to 17.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the APSB21-110 advisory.

- Adobe InCopy version 16.4 (and earlier) is affected by a memory corruption vulnerability due to insecure handling of a malicious GIF file, potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. User interaction is required in that the victim must open a specially crafted file to exploit this vulnerability. (CVE-2021-43015)

- Adobe InCopy version 16.4 (and earlier) is affected by a Null pointer dereference vulnerability when parsing a specially crafted file. An unauthenticated attacker could leverage this vulnerability to achieve an application denial-of-service in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2021-43016)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe InCopy version 17.0.0 or later.
